Miss Whitmyer earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Michigan State University and is pursuing a Master of Arts in art education from Western Michigan University.
Miss Whitmyer teaches Art I and Art II and also teaches Art at Turrill Elementary school. Miss Whitmyer offers a range of projects that allow students to build basic visual art skills and learn techniques with various media, like painting, drawing, print-making, sculpting in clay and plaster, etc. Art I students study the elements and principles of design and learn how to use them effectively in their own art. More advanced students are encouraged to be freely creative by allowing several student-lead choice projects each semester. It is amazing to see the excitement in a student who designs his or her own creation from start to finish and fully develops an idea that is important to him or her. Be sure to look for student artwork hanging in the hallways, what they do will surely impress you.
