K/E5 Round-Up

Thank you for choosing Lapeer Community Schools to enroll your E-5 or Kindergarten student!

This year, our annual Kindergarten Round-Up event was held on March 18 and March 20.

If you did not attend Round-Up, you can complete the enrollment process at any school building or at the Administration & Services Center located at 250 Second Street in Lapeer. 

To enroll your child into Early Fives or Kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old by September 1. Students who turn 5 years old between September 2 and December 1 may enroll but must have a signed waiver on file.

Required Documentation for Enrollment:

  • Original/certified or copy of birth certificate

  • Up-to-Date Immunization Record (Available at the Health Department)

  • Picture Identification

  • Two proofs of residency with your name and current address:

    • Picture Identification (picture identification is required and can also be considered as one proof ONLY if the current address is displayed on the front or back of the ID.

    • Utility bill, bank statement, or check stub (Must be dated within 2 months)

    • Lease or purchase agreement or car registration (Must be currently active)

***If you and/or your child(ren) are living with a relative, a signed and notarized residency affidavit by you (the parent/guardian) and the homeowner is required.  Staff at the Administration & Services Center can notarize at no charge.

Additional Documentation, if applicable:

  • Legal Custody/Court Documentation

  • Legal Guardianship Documentation from the court system

  • Special Education Documentation – Most Recent IEP & MET or 504 Plan

  • Current Transcript/Report Card

COMMON QUESTIONS

Question: What age does a child need to be to enroll in E5’s/Kindergarten? 

Answer: According to Michigan Law, if a child residing in the Lapeer Community School District is not five years of age on September 1, 2025, but will be five years of age not later than December 1, 2025, the parent or legal guardian may enroll the child in E5’s/Kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year if the parent or legal guardian completes a waiver prior to the child’s entry into kindergarten. 

Question: Who should make an appointment? 

Answer: Any new student/family, who is not currently enrolled with LCS, who would like to attend our E5’s/Kindergarten classes for the 2025-26 school year. 

Question: If my current E5 student who is attending an E5 classroom at LCS, will we need to attend round-up? 

Answer: No, current enrolled E5 students of LCS will NOT need to enroll for Kindergarten. 

Question: How many appointments will be scheduled at one time? 

Answer: Appointments will be every 15 minutes with 5-6 families per time slot. Please plan to spend a minimum of 15-30 minutes at this event.

Question: My student is attending GSRP, ECSE, or Speech Only at LCS Kids and Company. Will we need to attend? 

Answer: No, because you are already enrolled. Your student will participate in the kindergarten screener at a pre-arranged date and time. But, if you have questions about Schools of Choice, transportation, traditional vs year-round, we do encourage you to make an appointment and attend round-up. 

Question: My student attends 4-Year-Old Preschool at Kids and Company? Will we need to make an appointment? 

Answer: Yes, for enrollment purposes. If your child completed the Kindergarten Screener at Kids and Company, your child will not need to participate in an additional screener. 

Question: My student attends a preschool in Lapeer County, such as St. Paul, Head Start, etc. Will we need to attend? 

Answer: Yes. 

Question: What if I can’t make Round-Up? What do I do? 

 Answer: Please contact the Administration & Services Center to schedule an appointment.
