The annual Lapeer Homecoming events are set to take place next week, starting with the Powderpuff game on Sunday, Oct. 13, and wrapping up with the dance on Saturday, Oct. 19.
This year's Homecoming theme is "Enchanted Forest."
Powderpuff, featuring junior girls vs. senior girls in a flag football game, is this coming Sunday at Fitzpatrick Field on the CFI campus. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the game starts at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 per ticket and no passes will be accepted. During the halftime show, foreign exchange students will be introduced and the court for 9th, 10th and 11th grades will be announced.
A pep rally will take place Friday during 6th Hour at LHS. More details on that event will come from LHS staff.
The Homecoming parade is set to start at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18. The parade will be downtown, beginning at the Lapeer Agency at 145 E. Nepessing St. and ending near the post office at 567 W. Nepessing St. The band will begin the parade, followed by the Homecoming representatives and many of our sports and clubs.
Before or after the parade, head over to Blend, located at 392 W. Nepessing St., for some yummy frozen yogurt, with a portion of the proceeds going to the LHS LINKS program.
This year's Homecoming football game will feature Lapeer taking on Midland Dow, starting at 7 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field. During halftime, we will announce this year's Homecoming king and queen.
The dance is Saturday at Lapeer High School. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the dance runs from 7-10:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $15 apiece during all lunches Oct. 7-18. No tickets will be sold at the door the night of the dance.

We need all hands on deck for Count Day on Wednesday, October 2.
As a reminder, the State of Michigan requires public schools to take an official count of student attendance on two designated days each school year (one in October and the other in February).
Public school districts are funded on a per-pupil basis, so attendance on count days is critical.
Letâs make it COUNT!
